Synopsis
A thoughtful coming-of-age drama that explores a young woman's path to change her fate, A RAVAGING WIND is an Argentinian gem from acclaimed writer/director Paula Hernandez (THE SLEEPWALKERS). Trapped in a pre-determined destiny and gripped by the blind faith of her father, teenager Leni (Almudena González) joins her father Reverend Pearson (Alfredo Castro), on his cross-country Evangelical mission. Having car trouble, they must stop at Gringo’s repair shop, run by a man dramatically opposed to faith (Sergi López), who lives with Tapioca, his teenage son. A storm develops and Reverend Pearson becomes obsessed with saving Tapioca’s soul. While the situation unfolds, Leni sees echoes of her own story and tries to change her seemingly inevitable fate. So, she confronts her father for the first time, in the hope that her life will start at that moment. In this quietly powerful drama based on the novel by Selva Almada, tension simmers as complex father-child relationships are explored in the Argentinian countryside.
